Allen Schmidt C 6'10'' 261 21 C+ D+ D B- C A
Schmidt is your pretty standard gamble. He has solid strength, decent shot blocking potential, is a pretty solid all around positional defender, but outside that, will need to grow, a lot. Sloppy with the ball, iffy post moves, and a poor rebounder make for a very questionable prospect. He does have plus upside, scouts like the potential, but with so far to go, its probably he ends up a backup or low level starter.
Andrew McKinley C 6'9'' 254 20 C+ D F+ B B- A
McKinley is a bit undersized for a defensive big, but don’t mistake him for anything but that. He wont provide offense, but he is a solid shot blocker and post defender, with plus strength, a solid rebounder, takes care of the ball. All the things you want out of a defensive big. Not going to be a threat to score, poor jump shot, and a bit slow are the knocks on him. Upside is good, should be a starter quality defensive big, not sure about DPOY candidate though. Very safe pick.
Emile Acklin C 6'9'' 262 21 C+ D+ C- C B A
Acklin blocks shots, and rebounds, but outside that, is pretty much a mess. Finds himself out of position constantly looking to block shots, average strength, as well as post moves. Handles are a negative, but, despite going to a small school, scouts see a lot of promise in his game, reasons to expect him to be a contributor at the next level. On the other hand, he’s definitely not the smartest player on the basketball court, extremely dumb.
Steve Rios C 6'11'' 258 22 B- D D- B+ B- A
Rios is an ox, excellent size and strength, a very good defender, positionally, while showing upside as a shot blocker. Solid rebounder, some post moves, but nothing extraordinary. Questionable ball handling skills, and shot selection in general. Good upside.
Tony Terry C 7'0'' 252 21 C D D B- B+ B
Great rebounder, solid defender, with no offense to speak of. Terry is a solid prospect, not a star, but certainly has the potential to be a starter, especially with camps. Some stealing ability too, though nothing you are going to find elite or anything.
Maxwell Dean PF 7'1'' 255 20 C B+ A- C+ C A
The PF position is where you find yourself an outside focus type, for sure, its also the deepest position by far in a fairly weak overall draft. Dean is pretty much a combo ½/3 that can only play 4/5 due to his enormous size. A late growth spurt took him from tall Point guard to PF/C in his freshman year, and his game never really adjusted. Superb three point shot, mediocre jump shot, great handles, great passer, and blocks shots well. Defensively, far more of a perimeter defender, with mediocre strength, pushed around despite his size, too much fat, not enough muscle. As he has been playing as a post player for just a short time, he has good upside obviously, but will never be a muscle player. Cannot backup the ½.
William Cardell PF 6'7'' 238 22 C B- C+ B- C+ A
Offensively Cardell pretty much takes up the same mantle as Dean, he is not going to be a guy that dominates down low at all, definitely more of a SF/PF type, but is so slow he really struggles at SF. Solid jump shot, and unlike Dean, superb strength, but no shot blocking skill to speak of. Extremely quick hands, will steal very well for a PF, and plays very sound defense, just loses out due to lack of lateral quicks. Very good upside. CAN start at SF, as long as his rebounding is a B or lower, if it is at a B+ or higher, he is PF/C only.
Cookie Ziggler PF 6'8'' 240 23 B C- C- C- B+ B
Cookie is just a really solid offensive player. Good inside, good strength, a decent jumper, with mediocre handles. Upside is limited, but a great rebounder. Should be a useful player long term, but not a star.
Maximus Jack Szczerbiak PF 6'9'' 250 21 C+ B+ C B- C+ B
Wally Szczerbiak’s son, Szczerbiak is a solid overall PF/SF combo player. He takes care of the ball, finds the open man, can snipe from deep, and has good positional defensive skills for a PF. Upside is questionable, but overall a pretty solid player. Can play SF
Chris Ta PF 6'8'' 221 20 B+ C B+ D B+ C
Ta is an extremely flawed player, with significant talents on the offensive end, to the point you could consider drafting him first overall. His inside and strength are superb, he takes care of the ball, is a superb passer, and has a very good jump shot. On the other end of the spectrum, he will never, nor does not have, ANY defensive stat capabilities, don’t bother camping him there, its not worth it, if you draft him, its offense, offense, and rebounding. Upside is limited.
Andrew Backer SF 6'7'' 250 21 B- C+ D+ B+ C A
Out of the PF spot, and into SF, Backer is a fun prospect. Those of us who remember the name umm, well CC should, since he overpaid the guy with two ridiculously SHERRELL FORD, that’s it. Anyway,Backer is a statistical stud defensively, just ridiculously talented at blocks and steals, with solid quickness, nice inside. What he cannot do, is take care of the ball, in any way shape or form. He has good potential, with a very iffy outside game.
Del Geddes SF 6'8'' 234 19 B C- C- B+ C+ A
Del does nothing at all above average, jack of all trades master of none, but his upside is very good, and he is 19, giving him time to put it all together.
Ibrahim Moizoos SF 6'9'' 210 21 B- C- C- A+ C B
Ibrahim is a superb defender all around, blocks shots very well, steals pretty well, amazing athlete, solid rebounder, but offensively is pretty much lost. Good upside, but a specialty player for sure.
Jonathan Lyons SG 6'6'' 195 21 B- B C+ C+ C- A
Jonathan Lyons has issues, mentally he just seems lost all the time, not that smart on the court, but physically, he is extremely gifted, good athlete, can get to the rim when he wants, but kinda lacks that killer instinct it seems. Good steals, nice passer, issues with the ball though. Quick, plays pretty solid perimeter D, and a very solid outside stroke. Scouts like his upside, question his desire.
Chas Aubrey SG 6'3'' 182 21 C A- D+ A- C- B
Good outside shooter, superb perimeter defender, quick, steals pretty well, but upside is pretty limited.
Moses Flaherty SG 6'3'' 178 21 C- C- A A- D+ B
Another shot blocking wing, with no desire to score. Quick, but not a jumper, no three point shot at all, but a very solid jump shot. Good shot blocker, poor rebounder, great passer. Cannot play PG, (backup is fine), solid upside.
Marlin Strickland SG 6'7'' 215 22 B B+ C C- D+ C
Great athlete, excellent three point shot, does nothing else of note. Gamble though, Scouts are 50/50 on him, boom bust type as he is coming off a serious knee injury, and has refusted to work out for scouts.
Alphonse Loos PG 6'0'' 175 22 B C+ B- C+ D+ A
When I said PF was the deepest position in the draft, I lied. By now, if you haven’t figured it out, the draft has been weak, but, it starts getting strong, now, Loos is a weird propsect to start things off, great inside scorer, but seems to be the firm believer in advanced stats, as he can only shoot the three, never has shown an ability, nor desire to work on his jump shot, Growing defender, should take his lumps early, but grow into the position, same goes for his handles, he may struggle early, but a year or two in he should be developing out of it. Great potential on this one.
Eloy Franklin PG 6'3'' 198 17 F- C D+ C+ C A
Im about to break the fourth wall…Eloy has no chance at being a real prospect, or anything of the nature, he is a gimmick, somebody I want to see how he is treated, and valued. Everything on him is a 5 or maxed for the position. 100 jump shot, 100 handles, 100 quickness, 100 steals, 100 perimeter D, 50/50 rebounds, and 100 potential..EVERYTHING ELSE is a 5. Still, he should be fun.
Frankin St. Pierre PG 6'2'' 180 25 C C A B D A
Old,but extremely raw, great potential, coming from futbol, at a high level, and making the transition under the tutelage of one Tony Parker. Offensively likely never a threat, but could develop into a nice starting PG. As I said, oozes potential.
Damian Didarod PG 5'10'' 220 21 C+ B C+ B C B
Didarod is clearly the lesser of the PG’s, but also has the most polished game, terrible jumper, average quicks, decent handles, but nice strength and scoring ability for a PG. Decent rebounder, leans more towards offense, and utilizes strength more. Reminds people a bit of Damian Lillard, but not at the same level, doesn’t have that kind of upside. There is potential he could be a very good starter though.
Schmidt is your pretty standard gamble. He has solid strength, decent shot blocking potential, is a pretty solid all around positional defender, but outside that, will need to grow, a lot.
